Jack-O's Review: "There's Halloween decorations, autumn leaves and pumpkins mostly in the opening/beginning scenes of CURSE OF CROM 2 but not as much Halloween atmosphere in the rest of the film as the first film had. There are incredible practical creature effects. I thought all the actors did a great job and were funny. Most of them returned except Mary is played by a different actress. It was more a touching sweet wholesome family film than horror. Crom and the mini hairy pookas may be scary for kids but not adults. The music is very throwback to the 80's rock. If you liked the comedy and characters from the first film this one has even more of the same with a fun new story." ★★★ @trickhorrortreater

"I’m a big fan of the first movie, so I was stoked to come back for more. While this sequel also takes place at Halloween time, it doesn’t quite deliver on the holiday vibe. I was disappointed that the October festivities are mostly an afterthought. Also, while much of the same cast returns to fight Crom once again, the film attempts to avoid being a cookie cutter version of the first film, but in doing so, it becomes a little messy and goes on for too long, running an hour and 42 minutes long... There are also new critters that look like something out of an 80s movie... in Ireland! Say what? That’s definitely where this one loses the smalltown charm that the first film delivered while also leaving its Halloween roots behind to head overseas. Bummer. At least there’s a part where they use a jack-o’-lantern to repel the monsters... It is great to see the cast back, there’s humor, and there are some fun encounters with Crom, but he’s lost the mystique and creepiness he had in the first film. In the end, the movie leaves room for third film." BoysBearsAndScares.com
"Pooka Puppets. But also…. Objectively bad. There’s a way to make this story work. First, the college kids in this act like they’re between the ages of 10-14. So if those parts were rewritten to actually be kids of that age, this would’ve worked well as one of those RL Stine knock-off’s. It actually reminded me a lot of his DTV movie, The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It. Also hiring an acting coach, director of photography, a capable editor, and a set designer who does stuff besides just taping pieces of paper to white walls, and this might’ve been relatively okay. But they didn’t, and it’s not... one of my favorite character actors working today is Colin Cunningham... He’s the sole reason that these ill-conceived movies were added to my ‘ol watchlist, and unfortunately, not even he could save them. It was only his presence, and the puppets, that kept Curse of Crom 2 from landing in my worst of the worst pile. If you like shitty, Halloween themed, dtv abominations, you can add this to your list. It belongs there. I do like the posters for these movies quite a bit. They got that part right at least." ★★ UncleChoppa_ at LetterBoxd.com
"Solid follow-up to Curse of Crom: The Legend of Halloween - a kidventure Halloween movie that deserved more attention than it got. This outing doesn't quite nail the Halloween atmosphere the way the original did and it takes a step too far in the comedic direction for my tastes. But I love that something like this is even getting made - how often are we seeing independently produced gateway horror with practical effects? The Gremlins/Ghoulies-type creatures are a great addition. If the next movie by this gang focused on them instead of Crom, I wouldn't complain." ★★★ FakeVoorhees at LetterBoxd.com
"This was a huge improvement over the first. The camera work, special effects, the creature designs are all a big step up. The dynamic of Harvey and Mary's father is a lot of fun. While the first one had some humor, this one really leans into what it is, which is cheesy, goofy, Halloween fun, and I loved it for that." ★★★ Matt Arko at LetterBoxd.com
"Mary has been entirely recast for some reason. Steve still rules. Not as much fun as the first (what's with shitty music??) Still a good time. I do like the addition of the pookas!" ★★★½ FuneralBitch at LetterBoxd.com
"I just love spending time with these characters. My kids love the movies. They arent overly scary but the right amount of spooky for a family movie night. I'm hoping for a part 3." ★★★ jimbrewersbro at LetterBoxd.com
