The first segment is called "The Information Rage" where giant monsters created by political rage threaten to tear the town apart. The segment looks at how divided our country is — in this case, literal red versus blue monsters in a "kind of Pacific Rim style pool", and it talks about how American love partisan politics, and how they're becoming World-destroying kaijus.

The second segment, "The Fall of the House of Burns" follows a Victorian Mr. Burns (voice of Harry Shearer) as he is jump-scared on Thanksgiving by the ghosts of his abused workers;

The third and final segment is about Homer (Dan Castellaneta) bonding with a pair of extraterrestrial jeans in an unforgettable stop-motion adventure that can only be called... "Denim". A Venom parody animated by Seth Green and John Harvatine IV from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios but only the talking pants are animated in stop-motion.

What's on Tonight: TREEHOUSE OF HORROR Presents: NOT IT

The Simpsons will be airing TWO DIFFERENT brand new Halloween episodes this year! One of the two Treehouse of Horror 2022 episodes will be the familiar anthology (expect a Death Note parody this year), while the other will be a full length, 20-minute parody of Stephen King’s IT. Treehouse of Horror Presents: Not IT airs tonight Oct. 23 at 8pm EST, the second THOH will air next week.

Executive producer Matt Selman tells Variety: “We’ve never done a single fantastical, bloody, scary, dark story, told over the scope of the 20 minutes and 40 seconds that is an episode, I think the fans are going to be really excited. Certainly the tattoos already exist of Krusty as Pennywise. So we’re just writing towards the tattoos now.” Watch a promo and the opening scene of tonight's episode below after the synopsis.

SYNOPSIS: When a supernatural clown starts slaying the children of Kingfield, young Homer Simpson teams up with other middle school misfits to face their fears and defeat the mysterious monster. But years later, the evil clown returns, and Homer’s friends must confront the tragedy of their adult lives to destroy Krusto once and for all.

What’s on Tonight: WEREWOLF BY NIGHT (2022) — Disney+ Halloween Special + Custom Blu-ray & 4K UHD Cover Art

This is what I'm watching tonight: There’s no escaping the night. Watch the trailer for Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation Werewolf By Night streaming now on Disney+. The TV Movie was developed as a Halloween special and described as gateway horror inspired by classic black and white horror films of the 1930s and 1940s. Info below from Wikipedia, IMDb and Disney+.

Werewolf by Night is an American TV special directed and composed by Michael Giacchino and written by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. It is intended to be the first Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The special is produced by Marvel Studios, and follows a lycanthrope superhero who fights evil using the abilities given to him by a curse brought on by his bloodline.

DISNEY+ SYNOPSIS: On a dark and sombre night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader's life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic-a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.

Gael GarcΓa Bernal stars in the special as Jack Russell / Werewolf by Night, along with Laura Donnelly and Harriet Sansom Harris. Development of the special had begun by August 2021, with Bernal cast that November. Giacchino joined by March 2022, ahead of the start of filming later that month at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, which concluded by late April. The special was formally announced in September, when Giacchino revealed he was also composing.

The teaser trailer and poster for the special were revealed at the 2022 D23 Expo. The trailer below was noted for appearing in black-and-white and having other film elements resembling classic horror films. Maggie Boccella from Collider felt the trailer was "presented like an old school Hammer Horror film", comparing it to the works of Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi, both actors known primarily for their roles in horror films. Amanda Lamadrid of Screen Rant called the trailer "shocking and unique", saying it shows Marvel "going all-in on the vintage scream factor" while adding that the special looks "unlike any previous MCU project".

Trailer:

Werewolf by Night was released on Disney+ on October 7, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. The special received positive reviews from critics, with praise for its use of practical effects, the black-and-white cinematography, performances (particularly Bernal and Donnelly), Giacchino's direction and score, and its story, with many noting its departure from previous MCU media, though some criticized its short runtime and characters.
