Michael Myers Returns In Halloween 3D; fan made poster

Originally posted on Bloody Disgusting earlier today:

Some really brief news out of Cannes has Michael Myers being resurrected.

Our sources on the Cannes stomping ground tell us exclusively that The Weinstein Company is once again looking to get Halloween 3D off the ground.

We don’t have the names of any writers or directors attached, although Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier had previously been working on a screenplay. While we may be back at square one, at least the Weinstein brothers once again have Michael Myers on the brain.

It’s unclear if this would be a re-remake, or another sequel to Rob Zombie’s modern take.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) is my favorite Halloween film, I agree with the 2 comments left at fearnet.com/news/news-article/halloween-3d-back-development, I wish they would remake it or some how incorporate Michael Myers in a Silver Shamrock story.

I love this fan made H3 poster by RyTheRetroGuy:

Reviews:

"Well that escalated quickly > It's surprising that this movie has gotten so little attention; though it's not great, it should be of interest to horror fans. Parties that get out of control and mean teens are fun subjects, and found-footage adds to the fun. Some will probably be annoyed by the shaky cam, some might be bored by the movie going over part of the timeline twice from different perspectives, and some will say the plot is too predictable or unrealistic. The concluding events are the whole point of the movie, but they don't unfold in a very plausible way. On the other hand, plausibility might be impossible so it might as well go for shock-value. Bottom line is that the movie delivered." 6/10 Review by timlin-4 at IMDb.com

"Fun as hell and batshit crazy. Shoutout to the film’s producer for making this free to view for Black Friday." ★★★½ Review by Eggy S at Letterboxd.com

"that was, indeed, a frat party massacre." ★★ Review by ava adore at Letterboxd.com

"An interesting one to uncover if you’re into this more guerrilla style of filmmaking. Not for me and a little nauseating due to the camera work, but overall glad I was able to final check this one off my list." ★ Review by Prince Jackson at Letterboxd.com

"Ah yes, viral TikTok marketing does it again. Except I didn’t actually hate this one?

The rules of this so-called competition “tradition” are very unclear. It seems like it’s just an excuse to party, then pull some drug-related nonsense and get a group CNC thing going.

Where it gets interesting is that the previous year, it escalated to the degree of revenge porn being posted, which causes things to boil over this year, and violence breaks out.

There’s a surprisingly interesting metaphor that appears in the last 20 or so minutes where the girls steadily assimilate themselves into frat boy culture. First, they wear their clothes. Then, they start speaking like them. Then, they literally cut off and wear their faces. Then, they take their dicks and assault each other pretty much all night. It’s an interesting commentary on toxic masculinity and how that attitude can amplify in groups.

The line delivery in this is much better than normal for the genre. I specify line delivery instead of acting because there really aren’t any characters that exist outside the horned up Greek life archetype. There’s a couple creative camera choices (ex. Putting a camera on the dog), and it definitely gets more enjoyable once the gore kicks in at the ~45 minute mark.

The face (haha, get it) of the viral marketing scheme that brought this movie to my attention, Rickysixsixsix, has always been hyperbolic. He calls practically everything he reviews “the most disturbing film he’s ever seen,” this being no exception. Anybody with even a little bit of experience in horror as a genre will have no issues with the content of this film at all, so the supposed “most disturbing film ever made” reputation is very much not warranted." ★★★ Review by Dan Saillant at Letterboxd.com

"Pretty stupid but sooo entertaining" ★★★½ Review by Kat at Letterboxd.com

"Okey, so I get that the final 15 or so minutes will be shocking and disturbing to a lot of people. But was it worth it to sit through an hour of shaky found footage of nothing but frat bros being sex pests while the sorority girls are “up to something”?

I was undeniably uncomfortable for the first 20 minutes, which would have been a good sign, but then the whole thing took a nosedive and became a meandering slog. So when the “shocking” climax comes to a head, I’m far to bored to even care. It’s kinda disturbing in retrospective, but in the moment I almost yelled “finally!”

Not something I’d recommend, but the final 15 minutes can be worth checking h out if you’re interested." ★ Review by MΓ₯rtuary Holpers at Letterboxd.com

"Average SEC" ★★★ Review by StephenR1 at Letterboxd.com

"TikTok lied. Made it seem so ”disturbing” it had been taken off the internet for 10 years when in reality it’s just a horrible badly filmed and acted movie. With the last 15 minutes being a cluster fuck if the first hour of the movie wasn’t already. Smfh" ★ Review by johnathancruz10 at Letterboxd.com

"I mean the dog wearing the face at the end got a giggle out of me... But again this is why you don't trust fools on tik tok. This sucked" ½ Review by Georgellicious at Letterboxd.com

"Endlessly tedious found-footage horror movie about revenge in a fraternity/sorority Halloween party taken too far, that goes on and on until its gruesome climax. This is a difficult movie to review since most of it depends on a twist in the plot. But suffice it to say that besides the fatal flaw of it being yet another found-footage movie, there are also badly written over-the-top obnoxious characters, including frat-boys that are basically porn-addicted, testosterone-for-brains, closet-homosexual bullies, and then there's the suggestion made by this movie that a drug can turn relatively normal people into Ed Gein, complete with a fascination for re-usable body parts."
