13+ Summerween Movie Recommendations: My Go-To Horror & Summer Favorites + Where To Steam (Video by @FKVlogs7388)

SUMMERWEEN Movie Recommendations 2026 (Video by @FKVlogs7388):

Text below (some rearranged, corrected and removed repeated words) transcribed from the video above

I'm actually really excited to be talking about summer movie recommendations. I believe the official Summerween date is the 22nd of June. For me, I don't really have a specific date where I'm like, "Yes, this is summerween." It's just kind of in June time, sometimes end of May if I get a bit carried away. The first time I heard about Summerween was actually on Gravity Falls. And they go "The people of this town love Halloween so much, they celebrate it twice a year. And wouldn't you know it, it's today!"

I Know What You Did Last Summer

The first one I've actually already watched this year, but this one, it says it in the title. It is absolutely surely a summerween movie. It's I Know What You Did Last Summer. I mean, it's got it all. It says it's got summer in the title. It's set in summer. It's a slasher. And slashers really lean towards the summerween vibe. I think that if they're more on the funny side or silly side of horror, I think they end up in the summerween group.

The one I actually watched towards the end of May when I got carried away, I was like, "Oh, summerween is coming up," is actually the new one. To be honest, I was like, "Ah, it might be okay." I'd seen the original one, but not for quite a few years. So I thought, "Oh, I'll watch this remake one because I've not seen it." And actually, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty good. I would watch it again. Without giving any spoilers, it's doing something similar to the other popular movies in franchise.

The Final Girls

The next one is one that I don't hear people talking about too much, and it's called The Final Girls. This one is really cool because basically it's about this girl and her friends and they are watching this summer slasher movie. It's maybe was from the 80s, it's an older movie and it's got the girl's mom in it.

They're watching this movie and then for some reason or another, they get sucked into the movie. It's a pretty cool movie. I think we were quite surprised with how much we did enjoy that one. It's got all the camp vibes you could want from a camp summer slasher, but it's also got the comedy because they are making fun of how ridiculous some of the lines are in the movie and some of the choices people make.

The Scream Franchise

Next up is Scream. I don't really know that it's got the summery vibes, but for whatever reason, I always put it more in the summer type category of horror movies than the October autumn horror movies. It's probably because it's a fun-time slasher.

Last year we rewatched all of the Scream movies that were out, so one to six. The only one that I don't like is three. I just don't like number three. Apart from that, I actually really enjoyed them. I saw number seven, which is the new one, in February in the cinema. I actually think maybe number seven might be my favorite of the five, six, seven group.

They keep putting these out. They're always the same. It's pretty much the same thing, but I enjoy it. It doesn't really get old for me. I'm like, "Yeah, I'm going in expecting it's going to be very much the same kind of thing and we're going to have a fun time with it."

IT (2017)

My favorite one on this list. So if you take away any of them, watch this one.

It is the newer version of IT: Part One. This has got all the summery vibes in terms of the fact that they've got kids on bikes. They're going down by the stream, they're swimming, they're making those summer friendships. And also, I love the movie. The movie is great.

A lot of these other ones are cheesy fun. This one isn't that, but it's so good and I love it. I've seen it umpteen times and watch it every year. The second one, part two, I like, but I way prefer part one. It's perfect for summer. There are these kids, the misfit gang, they're on their bikes, they're having a crazy terrifying time.

I have seen the original 1990's ones a really long time ago. And to be honest, I now I really can't remember much about those because I love this one so much. I also have and I'm excited to watch IT: Welcome to Derry, which is the TV show. I haven't seen it yet. I want to know zero about it because I want to go into it blind. I've bought the Blu-ray, I've got it ready and I'm going to watch that.

Friday the 13th (2009)

If you've got a horror movie that's set at a summer camp, it's a Summerween movie. And this is Friday the 13th (2009).

I'm going with the 2009 version, which is the remake, over the original because I don't really remember the original one. The 2009 one I do recall. It's not really my favorite, but again, it's set at a camp. You could put it on the list and it definitely fits the vibe.

I've not seen it for a long time now, so this one is currently on the rewatch list.

WHERE TO STREAM Friday the 13th (2009):

The Fear Street Trilogy

The next one is the Fear Street Trilogy.

These came out a few years ago and they came out during the summer. So they are set in the summer. The first one is Fear Street 1994. This one sets it all up.

The second one is set at a summer camp 1978, and this one is my favorite of the three. it's got Sadie Sink, who's Max from Stranger Things. Which, of course, would be a great summer thing, especially season 3, but that's a TV show, so we're not going to go there.

Then the third one is 1666. I'll be honest, I didn't really like that one. So, when I rewatch them, I'm just going to watch one and two. But if you haven't seen them, I would say watch them all because the third one does conclude the story.

They do have another one that came out that's not part of the trilogy. It's called Prom Queen. I think it was just okay. So, it's not on the list.

The Lost Boys

The Lost Boys is great and I feel like I don't watch it enough.

I've seen it quite a few times and I always think, "Yeah, I want to watch more of that." It's essentially a vampire movie. I haven't seen it now for probably about three years and I can only remember bits and bobs of it, but I always want to watch it again.

I think that it's got the summery vibes. So, I think it fits in well here and it's a really 80's movie.

WHERE TO STREAM The Lost Boys (1987):

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

This one I used to love. When I first got into horror movies, this was my favorite one that I'd watched.

I've seen the original, but for some reason I really got into the 2003 remake. It's set in the summer. It's in August. It's hot. It's a slasher. People are getting killed. It's set in the summer. Perfect for Summerween.

The 2003 one I think that one's the one.

The 'Burbs

Okay, this isn't a horror movie, but I had to put it on this list. It's The 'Burbs.

This is an 80s movie that as a kid I loved. It's got Tom Hanks in it. I've probably watched it now about 20 times. And now when I watch it, I don't actually love it. It's just okay. But I've got such nostalgia with it. Some parts I think drag on and it gets a little boring, the pacing's a bit weird. But I continue to always want to watch it.

Tom Hanks has to take some vacation time off work and ends up staying home. He ends up wondering what these neighbors are doing. He has these weird neighbors, and they don't come out. They get involved in these shenanigans. See them digging a hole in the garden and he's like "oh my God they're trying to bury a body". It's a lighter comedy situation and a bit less gory than the other ones here.

Final Destination Franchise

The Final Destination movies was such a massive big thing when I was younger.

Everybody was scared to drive behind a log truck and it was a whole thing. I remember one, two, and three really well. Those were the ones that stuck with me. Four I'm not sure.

The newest one is called Bloodlines. I can't really recommend it because I have not seen it. But I would definitely feel you could put any Final Destination on a summer list and have a fun good time.

If you never seen any, there's usually a group of kids and one of them has a premonition about something terrible that's going to happen and then things start to come true and they have to battle with that. There's also totally crazy quite gory deaths that gets ingrained in your mind. I said the log truck thing and there's a roller coaster one and and there's usually things jabbing in people's faces.

WHERE TO STREAM Final Destination 2 (2003):

The Babysitter

Next one really fits the summer vibe if you're looking for something that's really cheesy overdramatic fun.

The Babysitter is about a young teenager having this babysitter that he really has a crush on. She comes over to his house to babysit him and he's in bed and he hears that she's got maybe four or five other people downstairs. Then he witnesses something really crazy weird happen and he's like, "Oh my god, freaking out."

I'll say The Babysitter is the summer version of the Christmas movie Better Watch Out it's also about somebody's being babysat, gets into some weird events.

WHERE TO STREAM The Babysitter (2017):

Jaws

Whether or not you would say Jaws is a horror, I'm saying it absolutely ticks the summer box.

It's got a giant shark, beaches, and sunshine. You got to watch Jaws, it screams summer vacation vibes.

WHERE TO STREAM Jaws (1975):

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil

The final one leans more into the comedy side. And that is Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. So, this one got the log cabin camp vibes and it's ridiculously hilarious.

Tucker and Dale keep getting into scenarios where they're accidentally killing people and this group kids are like, "Oh my god, like this is, you know, thinking they're serial killers." And then the flip side of it is really funny.

I would really recommend it if you like silly comedy movies, but also it's got the horror and the gore.

Um but yeah, that is my list for the Summerween movies. Let me know down in the comments below what movies you think you would like to watch on Summerween or what ones you have watched or what ones you're going to watch or maybe some upcoming ones or also any of your thoughts on these movies.
