A few paragraphs from the campaign...

Welcome to the very first feature-length motion picture to be produced by my new company, Fred Olen Ray Productions LLC. I've never crowdfunded a feature film before and I may never do it again, so here's our chance to do something meaningful together as a team! A chance to produce a first-rate movie with an incredible array of talent.

The movie JACK-O 2: BLOOD MOON RISING will highlight a monstrous creature, dark swamps and fair maidens in peril. All the things I’ve spent a lifetime perfecting in cult genre classics like HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS, EVIL TOONS, BIOHAZARD, DEEP SPACE, SUPER SHARK and DIRE WOLF.

Now it’s time for us to work together.

THE LOW-DOWN

For the last decade I have focused on dozens of Made for TV network movies… Christmas films and Lifetime Women’s thrillers and it’s been great, opening an entirely new page in my long career… but my early Drive-in movie roots are begging me to take another walk on the wild side, a walk back to my beginnings and I want to do it in Florida with you.

I'm going to produce a 1970s styled Drive-in movie… the kind fans want but no big company wants to finance anymore. That’s where I hope you come in!

Your crowdfunding dollars will go towards actors, crew, travel, equipment rentals, insurance, locations, food, wardrobe and, not least, creature effects. I have always pressed for the highest quality in every step of production and I'm not taking my foot off the gas now.

I have directed over 160 successful movies and television shows with legendary stars like Chevy Chase, Steven Seagal, Telly Savalas, Martin Landau, Luke Perry, Peter Fonda, Christian Slater, Shelley Long, George Hamilton, David Carradine and even the iconic Lee Van Cleef.

I received three Emmy nominations and won more awards than I can display, including a 2021 Emmy for outstanding Digital Daytime Drama. My films have been distributed by 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Paramount and Lion’s Gate.

INSPIRATION

My passion springs from the heyday of the 1970s Drive-in Movie Theater where I thrilled to great home-grown exploitation movies like SLITHIS, DEATH CURSE OF TARTU and GATOR BAIT. My spirit haunted the Drive-in and when I began my career, it was in movies like SHOCK WAVES and my swamp epic THE ALIEN DEAD starring serial legend Buster Crabbe. I have long awaited a return to the genre I love so much and now JACK-O 2 is my chance.

WHAT I NEED

I’m looking to crowdfund $50,000. This amount will help offset my personal cash investment for the bulk of the financing and allow me to import a name star. After all, what’s a Drive-in movie without a Drive-in Movie Star?

JACK-O 2 will never languish in the purgatory of uncompleted half-realized projects. Funds raised during the campaign will be incorporated into my personal resources, guaranteeing the film's completion in a timely fashion. Actors participation is subject to availability. “Halloween Candy 2” will be produced by Scared Stiff Films and is set to go into production this summer with an anticipated release in 2026. Scared Stiff Films is a small production company created in 2008 that has produced and released over 80 short horror films on their ScaredStiffTV YouTube channel. The films were all shot on a shoe-string budget and were created by a small team who all have a true love of the horror genre. After over a decade and a half of short form, the team went forward and produced their first ever feature-length film.

We released the first “Halloween Candy” film this past March through Terror Films Releasing. The film can be seen on Tubi, Amazon Prime and many other streaming platforms. We are looking to continue the Halloween Candy saga and tell a much bigger story with “Halloween Candy 2”! The first film was independently financed by writer/director Douglas A. Plomitallo, and we stretched the small budget as far as we could and left every penny on the screen. With “Halloween Candy 2”, we would love for YOU to be a part of it and help bring this new film to the next level.

The money raised will go towards every aspect of the filmmaking process, including; Cast, Crew, Permits and Insurance, Equipment Rental, Props, Catering, Transportation, Practical Effects, Soundtrack, Audio Mixing, Wardrobe and Location Rental.

Over the years, we’ve worked hard to develop a team and workflow that allows everyone to have input on the filmmaking process and gives actors the freedom to bring their creativity to the table and let them develop their characters. Everyone involved has a passion and a true love for filmmaking and we strive hard to make that passion translate on-screen. We have an incredible cast on-board for “Halloween Candy 2”. Fan-favorites from the first film will return mixed will a talented crop of new actors telling a story that we know horror fans will love.

We are looking to up the scares, up the thrills and up the kills with practical effects like the ones we all grew up loving. Also coming back for “Halloween Candy 2” is the mysterious and brooding clown, Tiny. We introduced Tiny in a series of short films starting back in 2009 with “Tiny’s Halloween” and continued his adventures with four sequels. Of all of the movies that we’ve made over the years, Tiny, is the one character that people gravitate towards the most, so we introduced him to a larger audience in the first “Halloween Candy”. We truly believe that Tiny has the potential to become one of the next crop of horror icons.

This Halloween St. Paddy's Day An Ancient Irish Curse Will Awaken!

Curse of Crom: The Legend of Halloween (2022) is currently streaming free with ads on Tubi, YouTube, Roku, Plex, and Freevee. The throwback family friendly PG-13 horror film originally began streaming in October 2022.

IMDb SYNOPSIS: High school teenagers accidentally unleash an ancient Irish entity on their hometown and must stop it before midnight on Halloween.

Written by Scott Baird and Rob York, directed by Rob York and starring Chelsea Jurkiewicz, Tanner Gillman, Colin Cunningham, Halem Medina, Ari Bagley, and Monica Moore Smith. Poster artwork by Marc Schoenbach at Sadist Art Designs.

Director Rob York describes the film as “gateway horror paying homage to the style of classic 80’s movies like The Goonies, Monster Squad and Poltergeist. We wanted to capture the atmosphere and fun of the films that traumatized us as kids. Everything was done practically, using cable and rod puppets, water tank optical effects, and lots of slime.”

Jack-O's Review: A fun family friendly gateway horror indie film. It's like a PG-13 Goosebumps movie, no cursing, no gore, no nudity, monster effects look decent, some funny lines and I love the Halloween vibes. I think the opening credits scene was shot by Witching Season Films, very much like their Halloween atmosphere videos. I'll rate it ★★★ out of five. Good. This first set is by Taylor & Matthew McManus @lunarlightcinema for their segment called "EJECDEAD" a slasher-comedy that follows a group of friends who stumble upon a mysterious VHS tape, unknowingly unleashing a malevolent force tied to the dark history of Camp Dead End. As they embark on a seemingly innocent Halloween movie night, their encounter with the cursed tape connects them to the resurrected killer, Elias Kane.

This second set is for Dylan R. Nix's @archicoproductions segment which is called "Haig's Heart" and is about Sam Haig, the owner of Rubber Ball Chocolates, who decides to give all of his candy away on Halloween...but his motivations might be haunted by something dark and mournful.

Ryan Sheets' @southridgefilms new short focuses on a man who’s bitten by some kind of creature on his walk home.
