Watch TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE Halloween Marathon Hosted by RICH LITTLE with Commercials

WGN Channel 9 promo:

In a Halloween Special that aired in September/October of 1986, Canadian-American impressionist and voice actor Rich Little hosted a TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE marathon where four previously aired episodes where shown with Little doing celebrity impressions in between them.

I tried to recreate the broadcast with the videos in this post. The info about the special I wrote here is taken from the video descriptions and comments posted. Some info was wrong but I updated the post with itzmurda's corrected comment below. Thanks for commenting!

This first video was recorded from WPIX 11 in New Jersey or New York and contains commercials, political ads and ends with Rich Little's impression of Alfred Hitchcock as he intros the marathon.

This second video contains the same Alfred Hitchcock intro as above plus Rich Little's impression of Vincent Price (pictured in the 1st photo in the TV Guide ad at top) presenting the first episode which was “INSIDE THE CLOSET.” Little also appears as Bela Lugosi's Dracula (2nd pic) introducing the second episode "STRANGE LOVE," both eps have been edited out. I embedded both full episodes below the following video.

This video is the TFTD full episode “INSIDE THE CLOSET” without ads watch below or at dailymotion.com:

...and TFTD episode "STRANGE LOVE" below:

This fifth video was recorded on October 31th, 1986 over WGN-TV on a Friday night at 8pm EST. Little's remaining wraparounds are in this video which also includes several Chicago-centric ads and nine o'clock news footage. All other recordings on this tape were from local Denver TV and all date to within a month or two of the broadcast.

Rich Little imitates Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance from 1980 film The Shining (3rd pic down in the TV Guide ad at top) as he hosts the episode "MONSTERS IN MY ROOM." He also appears as Boris Karloff to intro/outro the final episode "TRICK OR TREAT," then closes out the marathon as himself. Both eps were also edited out and are posted below.

Watch the full TFTD "MONSTERS IN MY ROOM" episode:

@garbage_pail_flix remixed this video that contains TFTD episode "TRICK OR TREAT" edited with commercials and Rich Little's Boris Karloff impression taken from the above videos. Watch below or at archive.org.

Or watch the full TFTD "TRICK OR TREAT" episode without ads below. I created the custom VHS cover above using artwork by Abrar Ajmal at www.aaillustrations.co.uk:

Watch the other 2 TFTD episodes that also take place on Halloween below, first is "HALLOWEEN CANDY"...

...Followed by "THE CUTTY BLACK SOW":

Halloween and more episodes streaming on Shudder promos:

The official Volume 7 VHS release of TFTD (vhs cover above) contains "TRICK OR TREAT" plus the following two episodes, "IN THE CARDS", though the video below is labeled the wrong episode title, it's not "All a Clone by the Telephone"...

...and "A CASE OF THE STUBBORNS" also labeled wrong episode title, it's not "The Word Processor of the Gods"...

VHS SYNOPSIS: Shivery delights from two masters of the macabre.

Writer Stephen King and director George Romero. Like Dr. Frankenstein and his monster or Dracula and his blood-sucking harem, this is a team to be reckoned with. King's works - Carrie, Cujo, The Shining, Salem's Lot, Misery and many others - make him a legend of the silver scream. And the same holds true for Romero, whose Night Of The Living Dead remains a classic of zombies-on-parade cinema.

The two macabre masters combine their terrifying talents in Creepshow - and prove why theirs is the teaming horror fans have been deliciously dreading! Five shockingly clever stories are here, each a virtuoso exercise in fright told in the ghouls-and-gags style of classic '50s comics like the legendary Tales From The Crypt.

You'll be scared silly as you witness: A murdered father back from the grave for Father's Day cake - and revenge!...A crashed meteor oozing gunk that gets everything growing, including human flesh!...A professor selecting his shrewish wife as an hors d'oeuvres for a ravenous Bigfoot-like monster!...A diabolical beach party with Cheers star Ted Danson up to his neck in terror!...The gruesome results when a malevolent millionaire who fears insects goes eyeball to bugeye with about six-jillion cockroaches! King and Romero. The right talents. The right mix of humor and horror. Let the Creepshow begin!

BOX OFFICE RELEASE: Creepshow was given a wide release by Warner Bros. on November 12, 1982. It started with an $8 million box-office gross for its first five days. In its opening weekend, Creepshow grossed $5,870,889, ranking #1 in the box office, replacing First Blood in the top spot. In total it grossed $21,028,755 in the United States, making it the highest grossing horror film for the Warner Bros. studio that year.

VHS/DVD/BLU-RAY RELEASE: Creepshow was first released in 1983 on VHS and CED Videodisc.

A two-disc Special Edition DVD of Creepshow was released October 22, 2007 in the UK. The discs feature a brand new widescreen transfer of the film sourced from the original master, a making-of documentary running 90 minutes (titled Just Desserts: The Making of Creepshow), behind-the-scenes footage, rare deleted scenes, galleries, a commentary track with director George A. Romero and make-up effects artist, Tom Savini, and more. The owner of Red Shirt Pictures, Michael Felsher is responsible for the special edition, the documentary and audio commentary in particular. In the United States, Warner Bros. released a one-disc set with the only extra feature being the film's trailer. No other special features have ever been released with the Region 1 version. The Region 1 DVD was a two-sided disc. One side was the 1.85:1 transfer (widescreen) version of the film and the other side was the full-screen version.

On September 8, 2009, the film was released on Blu-ray. Again the only special feature is the film's trailer. Scream Factory re-released the film on Blu-ray with new special features on October 23, 2018. Second Sight acquired the license to release a new Blu-ray in the United Kingdom. It contains all of the special features included on the special two-disc edition which was released in 2007. It also contains a new audio commentary with Director of Photography Michael Gornick, Actor John Amplas, Property Master Bruce Alan Green and make-up effects assistant Darryl Ferrucci.

VHS SYNOPSIS: The masters of the macabre STEPHEN KING and GEORGE A. ROMERO welcome you to CREEPSHOW 2.

Join our old friend, the rotting creep himself, as he introduces his latest tales of horror. CREEPSHOW 2 - a deliciously wicked roller coaster ride that will plunge you into the heart of darkness and to the very brink of madness. Where modern day punks receive an evil dose of frontier justice. Where a harmless swimming party can turn into a horrific and bloody nightmare into a carnivorous terror.

Just when you thought it was safe to come back to the movies, along comes a fright-fest like CREEPSHOW 2 - always good to the last gasp.

BOX OFFICE & VHS/DVD/BLU-RAY RELEASE: CREEPSHOW 2 was theatrically released on May 1, 1987. On its opening weekend, it grossed $3,584,077 and has achieved $14,000,000 during its run in theaters.

After its theatrical release, the film was released on VHS the same year by New World Home Video. While being released by Anchor Bay Entertainment on DVD, a special edition DVD of the film was released with the cover art being a homage to the Tales from the Crypt comic books from EC. in 2013.

The film was released on Blu-Ray by Image Entertainment on September 3, 2013. On December 13, 2016, Arrow Video released a special edition Blu-Ray in the United States. The release contains many interviews with the cast and crew along with behind the scenes footage.
