Halloween Horror Movies You Missed

I think I may have found the secret Halloween section on Tubi. I watched one Halloween movie and then Tubi just kept recommending me another one and then another one and then another one and I kept watching them. And these were movies I had never heard of or totally forgot existed.

Not your same 10 Halloween movies that you watch every year. That's what I found digging around on Tubi. Halloween is getting closer and if you're anything like me, you want to watch something a little different.

You're starting to dig around and look for movies you've never seen before or getting those Halloween recommendations from other people. And guess what? Tubi was a pretty damn good place to look.

So, today we're going to be discovering seven Halloween movies that you probably haven't heard of, but you should definitely put on your watch list this year.

Haunt Season (2024)

WHERE TO WATCH Haunt Season (2024) STREAMING ONLINE:

The first one is Haunt Season, a 2024 slasher that takes place inside a Halloween haunted attraction. A mass killer starts targeting people working inside the haunt, and pretty quickly those fake scares turn into very real screams.

Haunt Season surprised me. I wasn't sure what I was getting with this one, but when I watched it, I actually kind of liked it. It takes place inside a haunted attraction, or haunted house, whatever you want to call it. The set pieces are really great, the acting is pretty decent, and there are a lot of neon colors throughout the movie.

There is one part where the movie seems to stop dead in the middle to do some character building, which I thought was kind of weird. But once you get past that part, it is super fun. It's a fun slasher with a slight twist involving who the killer is and what his motives are.

The movie didn't get a huge theatrical push. It had a very limited release before being pushed into the digital world, and then it kind of disappeared. I found it on Tubi, where you can watch it for free, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Candy Corn (2019)

WHERE TO WATCH Candy Corn (2019) STREAMING ONLINE:

Candy Corn might be one of the most Halloween-looking movies on this entire list. It's Halloween weekend, a group of bullies takes things way too far, and an outcast named Jacob Atkins ends up dead. But Jacob doesn't stay dead for long. He is brought back to life to get his revenge.

This one was also a surprise for me. I started watching it after a different movie, and I just wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. It involves a circus and a group of performers, circus freaks I guess you would call them, who are part of a freak show. Jacob wants to become a member and travel with them, but he is also a kid who gets bullied at school.

Every year, the bullies come after him on Halloween night and torture him. This time, it was very literal, and Jacob doesn't survive.

Because he was connected to the circus, his pals don't take his death lightly. They bring him back to life so he can get revenge on the kids who killed him.

The movie gave me a Pumpkinhead feel. It's not the same movie at all, but there is something about the idea of someone being brought back to life to murder the people responsible that feels familiar. From Pumpkinhead, the dad is sad after his son was murdered, so he goes to a witch to summon Pumpkinhead to get his revenge on these kids responsible.

Candy Corn is darker than Haunt Season. There are some good kills, practical effects, and gore in this, which were really good. It is more of a slow burn, but it builds toward an ending that kind of blew my mind. The best part of this one is Courtney Gaines plays a police officer, absolutely loved him and he is the reason I kept watching, and Tony Todd also makes an appearance. The fact that this movie didn't get more attention with those two names attached to it is beyond me.

Creeping Death (2013)

WHERE TO WATCH Creeping Death (2013) STREAMING ONLINE:

Creeping Death was probably my favorite discovery we're going to talk about today. A group of friends accidentally unleashes an ancient Celtic spirit on Halloween night after stealing a mysterious sack. Now they have one night to survive and figure out what they are going to offer this thing before it comes for them.

I was shocked by how much I liked this movie. When it first came on, I thought it looked like it was going to be terrible. But as long as it has a good story, good performances, keeps my attention, and entertains me, I'm happy.

The movie isn't shot with the highest quality, but that didn't bother me because the story is so good. The performances work, and there is an amazing little twist at the end.

It also has a really awesome creature running around and killing kids. I can be sold on a horror movie if it has a really good practical creature, and this one was super fun. The practical effects are super great, the kills are fun, and it is Halloween through and through. You get pumpkins, Halloween decorations, and even a creature that looks like it belongs in the holiday.

Unfortunately, Creeping Death just got swallowed up by all the independent movies released every year. It has a relatively small footprint online, and it isn't one of those Halloween movies horror fans talk about every season. That's exactly why I want to put it on your radar.

Scary Movie (1991)

WHERE TO WATCH Scary Movie (1991) STREAMING ONLINE:

Don't confuse this Scary Movie with the huge comedy franchise. The 1991 Scary Movie is a completely different film, and its title may be one of the most misleading titles ever.

It follows a paranoid teenager who becomes convinced that an escaped lunatic is hiding around a neighborhood Halloween house of horrors. As his paranoia grows, he starts questioning what is actually happening.

This is a slow-burn horror movie, and the beginning is rough. A lot of time is spent setting up Warren, the paranoid young man played by John Hawkes. Once you get into the meat of the story in the second act of the story, though, the movie becomes super entertaining. Hawkes gives a great performance and plays the weird, paranoid little nerd kid so well.

Then you get to a twist at the end which is super fun.

Unfortunately, having the exact same title as the later Scary Movie comedy franchise has made this little indie movie even harder to find. Search for Scary Movie online and the Wayans Brothers movies and the sequels are going to come up first. You really have to dig to find this one.

Check out @mykillerbroadcast's full video dedicated to Scary Movie (1991): A forgotten Halloween horror gem that somehow slipped through the cracks. This strange, slow-burn psychological horror comedy is finally getting a new physical media release from Vinegar Syndrome. I watched it on Tubi and had to talk about this seriously overlooked horror movie:

When Good Ghouls Go Bad (2001)

WHERE TO WATCH When Good Ghouls Go Bad (2001) STREAMING ONLINE:

Watch When Good Ghouls Go Bad on FOX Family Broadcast Premiere with Commercials (10-20-2001) on YouTube:

When Good Ghouls Go Bad is a completely different kind of Halloween movie. Twelve-year-old Danny Walker moves to a small town that has basically forgotten Halloween. He discovers the story of Curtis Danko, a supposedly evil old man who died decades earlier after the town refused to let him participate in its Halloween celebration.

But when Danny starts digging into the legend, things get very weird because it looks like Danko might not be quite as dead as everyone thought.

This one is more of a family movie and has that old made-for-TV feel. It aired on FOX Family in 2001, that was a huge part as to why this movie disappeared. It didn't get a huge theatrical release, and maybe not a lot of people saw it originally.

Christopher Lloyd also stars, and he is always charming and he plays an amazing part always.

The movie is basically about a town that swore off Halloween after a horrific event. As Danny learns more, you discover what really happened. The ending is genuinely sweet — just a really good heartfelt movie.

After watching insane slasher horror movies with creatures, gore, and all this stuff. This one was just a nice relief. But it still has all the Halloween elements you could ever want: monsters, ghosts, pumpkins, decor all over the place, and even a huge pumpkin mountain. It's kind of like old cable tv nostalgia you would have watched on a Friday night in October as a kid and never forgotten.

The Barn: Part II (2022)

WHERE TO WATCH The Barn: Part II (2022) STREAMING ONLINE:

The Barn: Part II is an old-school Halloween gory creature feature that picks up three years after the original. Michelle, now in college, finds herself pulled back into the same nightmare.

The lore behind the barn is wonderfully ridiculous. On Halloween, if kids go to the barn and knock on the door while saying "trick-or-treat" three times, ancient creatures come back to life and try to murder all the kids.

As a sequel, The Barn: Part II goes harder, faster, and more ridiculous. The creatures are super fun, the gore is really on point, and there is plenty of splatter. Is it perfect? No. I actually prefer the first movie. But if you want a popcorn flick where you can turn your brain off and just be entertained, this is it.

The movie has everything: death, Halloween, pumpkins, nudity if you enjoy that, and a little cheese, which is why your girl liked it so much. It also features Joe Bob Briggs, Linnea Quigley, and Doug Bradley, yes, Pinhead himself.

Hack-O-Lantern (1988)

WHERE TO WATCH Hack-O-Lantern (1988) STREAMING ONLINE:

Finally, we go all the way back to the VHS era with Hack-O-Lantern, a gloriously strange 1988 Halloween slasher about a young man whose grandfather is the leader of a satanic cult.

Years after witnessing his father being murdered during a Halloween ritual, he is pulled back into his family's nightmare as a masked killer starts stalking people connected to him.

This one takes the slasher and cult genres to heart and combines them with classic Halloween horror. There are straight-up knife kills, the gore is there, it's an interesting story, and has all the Halloween vibes, the costumes, the wardrobes that the cult members wear.

It's a classic VHS-era movie that existed in the shadows for years. It wasn't a major studio release. It was simply pushed out to the masses, and you either saw it or you didn't.

The great thing is that Hack-O-Lantern is now much easier to find. You can even watch it for free on Tubi, and you can own it on 4K or Blu-ray from the Massacre Video website.

That's one of the things I love about the Halloween season. There are so many classic Halloween movies to choose from, but if you start digging around, there are so many fantastic indie Halloween horror movies you've never even heard of.

Some of these movies are going to be movies I'm going to watch every year. Especially Creeping Death. I really liked that one. And some of these discoveries can be that way for you. I'll admit some of them are great. Some of them are super weird and some of them are rough around the edges, but they all encapsulate that Halloween spirit with all the decor and all of the fun.

But if you have a Halloween movie that's been hiding out that you don't think anybody's known about, kill the comments below and let know about it.

12 Best HALLOWEEN HAUNT Horror Movies — Where to Stream This Spooky Season (Video by @mandysmorgueofhorror)

If you're a fan of haunt horror movies this video is for you! I'm talking about some of the craziest haunt horror movies you can stream for free on tubi that are perfect for your Halloween/spooky season watchlist. Video by @mandysmorgueofhorror:

Watch below or at YouTube:

Halloween is creeping closer, and with it comes haunt season! In today’s post, we’re diving into some of the best haunted horror movies to watch during the spooky season — and the best part? You can stream all of them for free on Tubi.

Haunt or Hell Fest appear as honorable mentions here but they’re not currently on Tubi, but trust me, they remain two of the best haunt-set horror films out there. For now, let’s take a look at what is streaming — a mix of terrifying, grimy, and fun horror flicks that will get you in the Halloween spirit.

WHERE TO STREAM  Extremity (2018):

Extremity (2018)

This psychological horror follows a young woman searching for unconventional therapy after a lifetime of trauma. Her path leads her to an extreme haunt called Perdition — but what she finds there is far darker and more dangerous than she ever expected.

Extremity dives into the mindset of people drawn to these real-life “extreme haunts,” blurring the line between therapy and torture. It’s a dark, bleak film with flashes of brilliance, particularly in its portrayal of trauma and fear as performance. While it loses momentum toward the end, it’s still a fascinating watch for anyone intrigued by the psychology behind extreme horror experiences.

WHERE TO STREAM  Talon Falls (2017):

Talon Falls (2017)

A group of teenagers visit a backwoods haunt in Kentucky, only to realize that the gore and screams inside are real.

Filmed at the actual Talon Falls attraction, this one feels like a throwback to the early 2000s “torture porn” era — think Hostel or Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). The acting is rough around the edges, but the kills are plentiful, the villains are intimidating (especially that pig-masked killer), and the whole thing oozes that grimy haunted-house energy.

If you just want to watch a bunch of teenagers get slaughtered in a haunted house — this one checks every box.

WHERE TO STREAM  Haunted Trail (2021):

Haunted Trail (2021)

A group of friends head out for a fun night on a haunted trail… until a masked killer turns their night of frights into the real thing.

Directed by Robin Givens (yes, that Robin Givens), Haunted Trail leans into its authentic setting and delivers a fun, homegrown feel. You really get to experience each section of the haunt — from the costumes to the props — which makes it especially enjoyable for haunt fans.

The downside? Some of the characters are grating, especially one named Zay who won’t stop cracking jokes. Still, it’s a fun slasher that captures that “real haunted house” vibe perfectly.

WHERE TO STREAM  Scary Movie (1991):

Scary Movie (1991)

Before the parody franchise, there was this Scary Movie — a low-budget gem about a timid young man (played by John Hawkes, years before becoming a major actor) who visits a haunted house while a real killer is on the loose.

It’s simple, charming, and surprisingly funny thanks to Hawkes’ physical performance. The homemade quality gives it a nostalgic, local-haunt energy. There’s also a cool twist involving an escaped mental patient that adds an extra layer of tension. It’s equal parts horror and comedy — and Hawkes totally carries the film.

WHERE TO STREAM  Fear, Inc. (2016):

Fear, Inc. (2016)

A horror superfan signs up for an underground extreme haunt experience called Fear, Inc. — only to discover that he might have gotten more than he bargained for.

This one plays with the question: Is any of this real? It’s gory, meta, and full of wild tonal shifts that keep you guessing. Christopher Marquette (Freddy vs. Jason, The Girl Next Door) is hilarious as the comic relief, and Caitlin Stasey (Smile) shines as the grounded, practical girlfriend.

It’s a clever, bloody ride that explores how far horror fans might go for their next big thrill — with a killer ending that’ll catch you off guard.

WHERE TO STREAM  HauntedWeen (1991):

HauntedWeen (1991)

Fraternity brothers reopen an abandoned haunted house to raise money for their college — but the site’s bloody past comes back to life.

HauntedWeen is pure low-budget fun, packed with DIY charm and old-school Halloween spirit. The kills are gnarly, the characters are likable, and the idea of a haunt built on a real murder site is irresistible. It takes its time getting to the chaos, but once it kicks off, it’s a blast.

It’s one of those movies that makes you wish you could visit the haunt yourself — fake blood, bad acting, and all.

WHERE TO STREAM  The Funhouse Massacre (2015):

The Funhouse Massacre (2015)

A group of psychopaths take over a haunted attraction and unleash real carnage on unsuspecting guests.

This movie is wild — a sleazy, bloody, over-the-top ride that feels straight out of the early 2000s. The killers each have their own twisted backstories (kind of like 13 Ghosts), and the film balances outrageous gore with tongue-in-cheek humor.

It’s not perfect — it could have made better use of the haunt setting — but it’s endlessly entertaining for fans of grindhouse-style horror.

WHERE TO STREAM  Haunt Season (2024):

Haunt Season (2024)

This newer gem focuses on haunt workers during the final weeks of their season as a killer begins targeting them one by one.

What sets Haunt Season apart is its heart. These characters feel like real haunt employees — theater kids turned scream-makers who love what they do. The movie takes time to develop them, which makes the kills hit harder. The setting is an actual haunt, and the practical effects are impressive.

It’s a sweet, surprisingly emotional film about friendship, passion, and Halloween — with just enough blood to keep things creepy.

The Houses October Built (2014)

Five friends travel the U.S. in an RV searching for the scariest underground haunts — and unfortunately, they find exactly what they’re looking for.

This found-footage favorite perfectly captures the Halloween spirit. It mixes real haunt interviews with chilling fiction, making it feel disturbingly authentic. The eerie doll-masked antagonist is unforgettable, and the finale is downright haunting.

It’s one of my go-to Halloween watches every year — though skip the sequel if you can; it kind of spoils the magic.

WHERE TO STREAM  Hell House LLC (2015):

Hell House LLC (2015)

The best of the bunch.

A group of friends transform an abandoned hotel into a Halloween haunt — but something sinister lurks inside, leading to tragedy on opening night. Told through a found-footage lens, Hell House LLC builds tension with subtle, background scares and an ever-growing sense of dread.

It’s minimalist but masterfully executed — the perfect mix of haunted house atmosphere and supernatural terror. The clown scenes alone will stick with you long after it’s over.

If you only watch one movie from this list on Halloween night, make it this one.

Honorable Mentions not streaming on Tubi

WHERE TO STREAM  Haunt (2019):

Haunt (2019)

A group of friends stumble upon an extreme haunted house on Halloween night, only to realize the masked performers inside aren’t playing pretend.

This one is absolutely drenched in atmosphere — the production design is phenomenal, with every room feeling more dangerous and claustrophobic than the last.

The kills are inventive, brutal, and practical, giving it that gritty, old-school horror edge. It’s stylish, scary, and delivers everything you’d want from a Halloween-night nightmare — a modern classic in the haunt-horror subgenre.

WHERE TO STREAM  Hell Fest (2018):

Hell Fest (2018)

A group of friends attend a massive traveling Halloween carnival filled with haunted attractions, but their night of fun turns deadly when a masked killer starts stalking them through the crowds.

The movie nails the Halloween vibe — neon lights, screaming guests, and detailed set design make it feel like you’re right there walking through the haunt.

It’s a slick, energetic slasher that captures the thrill of being scared in public, surrounded by chaos and laughter. While it’s a bit predictable story-wise, the energy and atmosphere make it a must-watch for anyone who loves theme park horror.

👻 Final Thoughts

Those are just a few of the best haunt-set horror movies currently streaming on Tubi this spooky season. There are plenty more out there — some great, some not-so-great — but if you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit, this lineup is a killer place to start.

10 Halloween-Set Horror Movies You Probably Missed — Where to Stream (Video by THE COBWEBS CHANNEL)

Happy October, everyone! The most sacred of months for horror fans. Like most of you, Halloween—Samhain, All Hallow’s Eve—is my favorite holiday. I have such a reverence for it, and every year I dive into as many eerie, festive movies as I can find.

Today, I’m excited to share 10 unseen Halloween movies. Not the big classics that have their own section at Spirit Halloween, but the under-the-radar gems that will still get you in the spooky spirit.

I’m your host Daniel with The Cobwebs Channel, and I’ve ranked these from lowest to highest recommendation. So, let’s get started!

Haunt Season (2024)

Custom VHS cover by me Jack-O @trickhorrortreater:

WHERE TO STREAM  Haunt Season (2024):
“Are you ready to die?”

A masked maniac targets cast members at a suburban Halloween haunt attraction, turning staged scares into gruesome real-life horrors.

Haunted house attraction horror is having a big indie moment, and Haunt Season is a strong addition. The killer swaps between a variety of creepy Halloween masks—think Spirit Halloween’s finest—and the chase sequences are surprisingly inventive.

Arcades, bowling alleys, mini-golf, even an escape room become deadly hunting grounds. The film feels like a mash-up of teen hangout spots and slasher carnage. It’s not perfect, but if you love indie Halloween slashers, this one’s a treat.

Hack-O-Lantern (1988)

WHERE TO STREAM  Hack-O-Lantern (1988):

When Tommy was a boy, he saw his grandpa—leader of a satanic cult—murder his father in a ritual on Halloween night. Now 18, grandpa is ready to initiate him into the black arts.

This is pure ‘80s cheese. It’s dumb, silly, and doesn’t make much sense, but it’s packed with cult vibes, sleazy kills, ridiculous dialogue, and devil costumes galore.

If you’re a fan of “so bad it’s good” slashers, this one delivers good old-fashioned Halloween Satanism with a wink.

Blood Fest (2018)

WHERE TO STREAM  Blood Fest (2018):

A horror super-festival turns sinister when its showman mastermind uses the event to film the real slaughter of fans trapped inside.

This is like Halloween Horror Nights on steroids—an entire theme park of zombies, vampires, clowns, and an invented slasher villain called The Arborist. It’s wild, meta, and filled with horror references.

If you prefer straight scares, Hell Fest (also 2018) may be more your speed, but Blood Fest is the bigger, funnier ride.

The Barn (2016)

WHERE TO STREAM  The Barn (2016):

Two teens stumble on an abandoned barn and awaken three evil “spooky guys”: a scarecrow, a pumpkin-headed monster, and the boogeyman.

This retro ‘80s throwback started as a childhood idea from its writer/director Justin Seaman. It’s rough around the edges, but it’s absolutely brimming with Halloween rules, decorations, and indie charm.

The monsters feel like Spirit Halloween animatronics come to life—cheesy but creepy. Perfect for fans of practical effects and nostalgic Halloween vibes.

The Barn Part II (2022)

WHERE TO STREAM  The Barn Part II (2022):

The sequel goes bigger, bloodier, and zanier. Michelle (Lexi Dripps) takes center stage, Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl show up, and the Halloween haunt setting explodes with gore.

It’s campier than the original, but together the two films create a mini-franchise drenched in Halloween imagery. Cozy, nostalgic, and fun.

Night of the Demons 2 (1994)

Custom Blu-ray clean and damaged covers VHS-styled by clerk13:

WHERE TO STREAM  Night of the Demons 2 (1994):

Angela returns to Hull House to summon an army of teen demons.

This sequel might actually surpass the cult original. Better characters, better effects, and the setting—a Catholic school turned demonic battleground—works brilliantly.

Loaded with splatter, gore, and unforgettable effects, it’s one of the most purely entertaining Halloween watches.

Idle Hands (1999)

WHERE TO STREAM  Idle Hands (1999):

A stoner discovers his right hand is possessed, murdering everyone in sight.

On paper, this shouldn’t work for me, but Idle Hands is hilarious, gory, and pure chaotic fun. Devon Sawa, Seth Green, and Elden Henson make a perfect trio of horror-comedy slackers, and Jessica Alba plays the love interest.

Shot in the same neighborhood as Carpenter’s Halloween, it oozes suburban Halloween vibes and climaxes with a costume-filled school dance.

When Good Ghouls Go Bad (2001)

In the small town of Walker Falls, Halloween has been banned for decades—until Christopher Lloyd (as eccentric “Uncle Fred”) helps bring the holiday back.

Written by R.L. Stine, this TV movie is full of vintage decorations, heartfelt narration, and family-friendly frights. It’s basically A Christmas Carol for Halloween: a story about recapturing the spirit of the season.

It’s charming, autumnal, and absolutely perfect for kids—or nostalgic adults.

Late Night with the Devil (2023)

Custom VHS cover by @brainless0000:

On Halloween night 1977, a talk show host invites a supposedly possessed girl onto his live broadcast. Things quickly spiral into supernatural horror.

This one is genuinely scary. David Dastmalchian shines as the host, while the young actress playing the possessed guest is chilling.

With retro vibes, practical effects, and a creeping sense of dread, this feels like watching a cursed lost broadcast. One of the best modern Halloween horror films.

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949)

Yes, this Disney classic makes the top spot—for its Legend of Sleepy Hollow segment.

Beautifully animated with a perfect autumnal atmosphere, it builds to one of the most iconic Halloween scenes ever: Ichabod’s midnight ride with the Headless Horseman. Narrated and sung by Bing Crosby, it feels like a timeless spooky storybook brought to life.

At just 30 minutes, it’s the easiest Halloween rewatch of the season—and for me, it’s the greatest adaptation of Sleepy Hollow ever made.

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it: 10 overlooked Halloween movies, from cheesy Satanic slashers to heartfelt family films and genuinely terrifying supernatural tales.

Which of these have you seen? And what are your own hidden Halloween favorites? 🎃
