What's on Tonight: NATTY KNOCKS (2023) with Robert Englund, Bill Moseley, and Danielle Harris

From the Director of "Halloween 4" comes a new horror/thriller starring horror icons Robert Englund, Bill Moseley, and Danielle Harris, Natty Knocks (2023) will release day and date by Vertical on July 21, 2023. The Knock Knock Films production also stars Charlotte Fountain-Jardim, Thomas Robie, Noen Perez and Jason James Richter.

Reviews:

“Natty Knocks has a lot of good twists and turns, with numerous characters having more to them than we see at first glance. There’s a fair amount of detective work, scares, peril, and general intrigue to keep us invested, along with enough blood to make this inarguably a horror movie. Director Little maintains a pleasingly creepy pre-Halloween look.” Grade: B, AssignmentX.com

“Strangely enough, the off-kilter mix of supernatural elements with creeping serial killer voyeur almost works. However, in attempting to do too many things at once, Natty Knocks needlessly overcomplicates what should have been simple and fun. With a focus solely on Honeywell, Natty Knocks could transform into a Black Phone-esque chiller; the witchy Natty stalking and killing folks by way of her ghostly, traumatized presence would be another in a long line of hauntings.” 2.5 out of 5, JoshattheMovies.com

“The film started off really strong, but then things died down a little bit while we waited for the kids to stumble upon everything. At times, it felt a little filler, but we eventually got back on track and I thought that the film finished strong so this wasn’t a major con.” TVFanatic.blog

“Natty Knocks could have used more supernatural elements throughout the story to make the end feel more earned. With Britt further possessed by the end, the movie takes an interesting turn, but it feels like we’re watching the start of a different movie.” Wherever-I-Look.com

What's on Tonight: BAD GIRL BOOGEY (2022) on Digital Today

Dark Star Pictures will release Alice Maio Mackay’s acclaimed slasher Bad Girl Boogey on digital platforms on July 4, in select theaters on July 7th and a DVD release on July 11. The film received a positive reception at its premiere at Popcorn Frights Film Festival and a healthy festival run. The film also has a fun cameo from horror icon Bill Moseley.

SYNOPSIS: Angel's mother was brutally murdered one Halloween night when blood was shed by a deranged killer wearing a parasitic mask cursed with black magic and bigotry. Sixteen years later, when Angel’s best friend is slaughtered by a killer with the same mask, they must overcome their personal struggles, fight their fear, and find the masked killer before he, or it, slaughters everyone they hold dear.

16 year old transsexual filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay directed, produced, and co-wrote with Ben Pahl Robinson. Bloody Disgusting's review calls Bad Girl Boogey "an intense, bloody slasher that features compelling performances, gruesomely creative kills, and profound commentary on the deadly consequences of allowing bigotry and hatred to go unchecked." BLOODY DISGUSTING ‘Bad Girl Boogey’ REVIEW: Queer Slasher Provides Gruesome Kills and Profound Social Commentary

Reviews:

“…it’s evident to me that Mackay really knows and loves her genre films. Oh, and the kills here are quite gruesome at times, which should please slasher fans […] Bad Girl Boogey is self-aware, while at the same time, it doesn’t feel like a retread of every other slasher. This is one stylish, out and proud queer horror film by an impressive young talent.” 7 out of 10, HorrorBuzz.com

“One thing that the viewer can’t fault are Bad Girl Boogey’s effects […] Overall Bad Girl Boogey has a lot going for it, for only her second feature Mackay shows a talent for staging the suspenseful and violent scenes a film like this requires. Hopefully, she’ll get a better grasp on pacing and revealing information.” 3.5 out of 5, VoicesFromTheBalcony.com

“Mackay tells a story rooted in reality and elevated by this supernatural plot device to represent a greater societal imbalance. With some memorable kills, likable characters, and a breezy run time, Bad Girl Boogey is not a slasher to miss. With an inventive story, Mackay adds another queer horror entry to their list and to the genre, bending tropes and creating bloody imagery to last.” Warped-Perspective.com
