HALLOWEEN Horror Movie News Across The Web — Week of September 20th to October 4th, 2026!

Tyra Banks has beef with Halloween: Resurrection. She signed up hoping for an acting breakthrough and an unforgettable death scene. Instead, her character’s big moment didn’t even make the movie.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Banks recalled initially turning down the eighth Halloween film before her agent pointed to Josh Hartnett’s success following Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.

“I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that. What is it going to do for my career? I’m a model, and I need to do things that are kind of different to get this acting career that I want,’” she explained.

The pitch that changed her mind? Hartnett had done Halloween, and look where his career was going.

“So I was like, yeah, okay, this is going to do it for me,” Banks recalled. “Not only did it not do anything for me, they cut the damn death scene.”

Banks joked that she was “promised the career of Josh Hartnett, of an actor, and promised an iconic death scene that will last forever, and neither of them happened.”

“So, I have beef with Halloween 8!”

Frankly, I think Resurrection is the worst in the franchise by a mile. A complete disaster of a film, but that’s another conversation. You can understand her disappointment: she took a role she wasn’t particularly interested in because she thought it might lead somewhere, and then lost the scene that was supposed to make her memorable... keep reading at dreadcentral.com:

Disney’s Hocus Pocus remains a perennial Halloween favorite, 33 years later, with the original cast frequently reuniting in Salem this time of year for events. This year, some of them revisited the 1993 film’s Salem shooting location to recreate one of its most memorable scenes.

Omri Katz, Larry Bagby, and Tobias Jelinek dive back into their roles to recreate the early scene that sees teen protagonist Max (Katz) peddle through Old Burial Hill in Marblehead, where he’s accosted by bullies Ice (Bagby) and Jay (Jelinek). Watch below as the original film’s footage gets spliced with their present-day recreation.

They’re having a blast, interjecting bits of comedy into the classic scene. Katz’s line about smoking is likely a knowing wink to his 2022 interview with EW, where he confessed to being stoned during production.

While the OG stars, along with Vinessa Shaw, are back in Salem to host their annual Buncha Halloween event and celebrate a Halloween classic, a third film is currently in development. Hocus Pocus 3 is officially in early development at Disney, with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy set to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters... more from bloody-disgusting.com:

Beetlejuice 3 is making the rounds on social media again, with an industry listing being treated as a fresh update on the sequel. Before we start saying his name three times, there’s something worth clearing up: that listing was last updated on March 24, 2026.

The entry on Production List, published by the Film & Television Industry Alliance, categorizes the movie as being in pre-production. It names London as its shooting location, lists Tommy Harper as line producer and Sophie Holland as casting director, and identifies Tim Burton as director with an important qualifier: “TBC,” or to be confirmed. The shoot date remains TBA.

Its listed producers include Dede Gardner, David Geffen, Jeremy Kleiner, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, and Marc Toberoff. Warner Bros., Tim Burton Productions, Plan B Entertainment, KatzSmith Productions, and Toberoff Productions appear among the companies.

So, yes, the listing exists. It does not establish that the movie has just entered pre-production, that Burton has signed on, or that cameras are about to roll... keep reading at dreadcentral.com:

Deep breaths, Pam.

Ahead of the show’s debut, Peacock has unleashed the opening scene from the Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake. And oh, what a bloody good tease it is!

In the clip, we find Pam (Linda Cardellini) covered in blood, staring into a mirror. We don’t know what happened or why, but we can make a pretty good guess. “What did you do?” she asks herself after pulling a piece of glass from her knuckles. Soon, viewers will find out exactly what she did... full writeup at dreadcentral.com:

And for the horror icon’s 30th birthday, Michael Dougherty is bringing Sam back to life…

Netflix is officially putting the final nail in the coffin of production for Wednesday Season 3, celebrating the wrap with a striking new photo of Jenna Ortega clacking away on a vintage 1934 Juwel Model 3 portable mechanical typewriter.

The hit show’s sophomore run saw Netflix release the season in two distinct batches. The strategy paid off massively, with the first four episodes racking up a staggering 50 million views in their initial five days alone. That explosive start tied the launch of Season 1, which firmly retains its crown as Netflix’s most-watched English-language series of all time. While the Tim Burton-directed phenomenon focuses heavily on Wednesday Addams’ macabre individual exploits, it also seamlessly integrates the rest of her famously peculiar family directly into the overarching mystery... from joblo.com:

With a new A Nightmare on Elm Street film in development, horror fans are asking who should inherit Freddy Krueger’s glove. One name gaining grassroots support is Terrifier actor and producer Michael Leavy, whose videos of his Freddy voice, mannerisms, and personality sparked the #LeavyForKrueger campaign.

Leavy has a direct link to Freddy’s legacy: he played the younger version of Robert Englund’s character, Dr. Andover, in Fear Clinic (2014) and was a producer on the documentary Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story.

Leavy first put his hat in the ring in an Instagram video that went viral, prompting the team to create the full makeup short... read more from dreadcentral.com

Halloween monsters, a shit ton of practical gore, and an indie trilogy heading home on physical media. That’s a pretty good way to get into the spirit of the season.

The Barn Part III is now available to preorder on Blu-ray and VHS through Scream Team Releasing, with shipping estimated for mid-October 2026. The Blu-ray even includes an anaglyph 3D version with special-edition glasses!

Directed by Justin M. Seaman, the intended final installment in his Halloween-set trilogy continues the series’ do-it-yourself spirit with murderous monsters and some seriously messy effects. We premiered the trailer back in August, and its old-school Halloween chaos remains a hell of a selling point... read more at dreadcentral.com:

William Ragsdale (Fright Night), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and John Kassir (Tales from the Crypt) also star alongside Tristan Olsen and Amanda Byrne.

You can browse the editions and preorder directly from Scream Team Releasing. For a Halloween movie built around practical monsters and buckets of blood, a VHS release feels right at home.

Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) has a pretty fascinating story about how she nearly auditioned for The Exorcist. There’s just one wrinkle: director William Friedkin publicly disputed it.

Curtis revisited the anecdote over the weekend during the Academy Museum’s September 26 screening of Halloween, where she appeared alongside director John Carpenter for a conversation moderated by makeup artist Howard Berger.

The story has been making the rounds for years. As Dread Central covered last December, Curtis has said her mother, Janet Leigh (Psycho), turned down a request to let her audition for Regan MacNeil. In that telling, producer and family friend Ray Stark made the call, and Leigh refused because she wanted her daughter to have a childhood.

But back on September 28, 2018, Friedkin responded to coverage of Curtis’s audition anecdote with four very direct words:

“This is totally untrue.” read the rest at dreadcentral.com:
