RAGEBAIT releases exclusively on Screambox on August 4, 2026. The original title for the found footage horror-comedy anthology film was CLICKBAIT. The filmmakers realized that there were nearly 50 other projects with the same title.
SYNOPSIS: "On Halloween night, a socially parasitic live streamer becomes the target of a malevolent entity after a mysterious viewer curses his stream, forcing him to watch a collection of cursed videos from missing content creators. As his stream continues, he reacts to a series of disturbing clips, each tied to creators who have disappeared under unsettling circumstances. The videos grow increasingly dark, blurring the line between entertainment and reality as the situation escalates. As the night unfolds, the consequences of the curse intensify, drawing him deeper into a chain of events he cannot control, and forcing him to confront the true cost of his pursuit of attention."
Directed by David James Clark, Joe Martinez-Weinberger, Dean Smith, and Taylor Weiss, written by Grant Chauncey, David James Clark, Joe the Martinez-Weinberger, and Jude Price, the film stars Tyler Arceneaux, Jack Arden Garrett, and Ray Beer.
How two Dodge graduates produced "Clickbait," their first full-length horror film: “We wrote and produced to what we had to increase the production value,” Martinez-Weinberger said. “[Clickbait] wasn’t for groundbreaking effects. It was for fun effects that elevate a goofy, comedic movie. As long as we were entertaining people, making them laugh, that’s all we really cared about.”
Though the Clickbait filmmakers were young and constrained by a tight budget, Eric Fox [who created the special effects makeup] said that they were more organized than his big-studio clients. “They had a really good vision [of] what they wanted, and their communication was great,” he said. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and it was so impressive and so refreshing to see how well they did with this project and how great the final piece turned out.”

Jack-O's Review: I stopped watcing after an hour, did not find it funny, thought it was boring, definitely not reminiscent of Trick 'r Treat (2007) or Southbound (2015) like one reviewer below wrote it is, it's much worse. “I love how it’s a Halloween themed movie. The holiday iconography of the season is abundant, adding to the eerie aesthetic, especially if one knows the context of the significance of Halloween on a spiritual level... Overall, each segment has a unique vision yet they feel like they belong together because of the relative themes. The gore effects makeup is the best I’ve seen in years. My biggest issue is the lack of context for the evil entity haunting Ralph. I appreciate when exposition isn’t spoon fed but I do need some information to fully comprehend what to be afraid of and why. The anthology subgenre sets itself apart from standard films due to the inherent nature of how they’re written and directed. It’s a collaborative effort of multiple writers and directors, therefore, the template has more to consider because of the vast amount of creative input involved. The film is reminiscent of Underneath: An Anthology of Terror (2022), Trick R Treat (2007), and Southbound (2015). I recommend this if you like those. “This micro budget horror movie knows exactly what it is and makes the most of every dollar... The wraparound story is honestly stronger than I expected and does a good job tying everything together. There is no hiding the budget, though. The homemade aesthetic works in the film's favor at times, but the performances are all over the place... Once the stronger stories begin rolling in, however, the movie becomes a lot more entertaining... The practical effects deserve a lot of credit throughout the film. While the production values are understandably modest, the filmmakers clearly prioritized physical gore whenever possible, and it pays off... You can feel the passion behind every segment, even when the performances or technical limitations occasionally hold things back. Amazing creativity and practical FX... It is never trying to compete with polished studio horror, and honestly, that works in its favor. It embraces its found footage roots, internet satire, and DIY filmmaking spirit while delivering enough memorable moments to make the ride worthwhile. Not every segment sticks the landing, but enough of them do that I walked away pleasantly surprised. It is rough, goofy, occasionally gross, and far more entertaining than it has any right to be.
