The Movie Loft is a program that aired syndicated movies with interstitial program elements hosted by Dana Hersey. Airing on WSBK-TV (channel 38) an independent television station in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, The Movie Loft helped pioneer a new type of television broadcasting by introducing the hosted movie format, as well as airing only "unedited" movies.

With his deep, resonant theatrical voice, Hersey expertly hosted The Movie Loft in the late 70s and 80s, making it a Boston area household name. His encyclopedic knowledge of movies made his introductions to the films of The Movie Loft a preview you did not want to miss. In the mid-1980s, WSBK dropped the midday movie to make room for more sitcoms.

By 1997-1998, The Movie Loft was discontinued as a result of host Dana Hersey's retirement, as well as declining ratings for the program as the movie packages that the station acquired were of a lesser quality than in previous years. WSBK later revived the genre in 2001, with an attempted a revival of The Movie Loft hosted by Skip Kelly.

This is a VHS recording of The Movie Loft that aired in October 1988, Dana Hersey hosts 1985's Silver Bullet with original commercials. One of my favorite werewolf films and I loved watching all the 80's commercials. Highlights include Hersey's short history of werewolf films and Child's Play promos (when it was about to hit theaters on November 9, 1988) include movie goers thoughts of the film.
