This summer, terror won't be taking a vacation.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) is currently streaming free with ads on Tubi and YouTube. It is the seventh installment in the Halloween franchise and a sequel to Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981), ignoring the Thorn Trilogy story arc of the previous three installments.
The slasher film was theatrically released in the United States on August 5, 1998. It received mixed reviews from critics, with many saying it was at that point the best of the sequels but still paled compared to the original. It grossed $75 million worldwide against a budget of $17 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
The film follows, "Laurie Strode, now the dean of a Northern California private school with an assumed name, must battle the Shape one last time, as the life of her own son hangs in the balance."
"Twenty years after Michael Myers' massacre in Haddonfield, Laurie Strode faked her own death, traveled to California, and took on the identity Keri Tate. Michael discovers Laurie's new identity and travels to California to kill his sister. Laurie must now take on her brother with her son's life at stake."
"20 years ago, evil escaped incarceration in the form of Michael Myers, leading to a bloody killing spree in the town of Haddonfield on Halloween. Now the headmistress of a private school, final-girl Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) can't shake the horrifying memories. Suddenly, Michael returns to terrorize a new generation of Haddonfield residents, including Laurie's rebellious son (Josh Hartnett), his girlfriend (Michelle Williams), and Ronny, their school's security guard (LL Cool J). They're all about to become Halloween's latest victims unless Laurie can conquer her greatest fears and put evil in its place once and for all."
Directed by horror genre favorite Steve Miner (FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2) and starring Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN II) returning as lead Laurie Strode. Also stars Adam Arkin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Hartnett, LL Cool J, Michelle Williams, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, and Adam Hann-Byrd. With appearances by Janet Leigh (PSYCHO) and Nancy Stephens (HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN II) also returning to the franchise as Nurse Marion.
In February 2003, the FX network premiered an alternate version of the film, adding and extending footage not seen in the original release. It has yet to be released anywhere else, but the deleted scenes can be found in the 3 videos below (1st is a playlist of 15 videos/scenes).

Jack-O's Review: "I loved this film when it came out and I look at it and love it is as a trilogy with the first 2 films and ignore Resurrection, even though I like part 8. But now I prefer David Gordon Green's H40 retcon over H20. Now all I see when I watch H20 is that it's a great Scream rip off and Jamie Lee Curtis sucking face with her George Clooney look alike boyfriend makes me want to retch and fucking heave." ★★★★ @trickhorrortreater
More Reviews:
"Halloween H20: 20 Years Later must have been fun to see at the time. Nowadays it's just alright. It is short and moves fairly quickly. The ending props up the overall score and it is a joy to see Jamie Lee Curtis back in the role, taking on Michael Myers. I don't care at all about her son or the other teenagers. Its worst part being that the film is not scary in the least, except for kinda one scene. Again, it really is all Jamie Lee Curtis holding this film together. Although I'd still say you'd be better off just watching True Lies or A Fish Called Wanda. Heck, I'd even say just watch Fierce Creatures instead. I give it 3 stars out of 5." ★★★ FilmFad.com
"Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is a solid Halloween flick. Despite it feeling a bit more like a Scream cousin, Jamie Lee Curtis’ first retcon requel return to her famous character is still a fun creepy flick. Steve Miner keeps the suspense building with Curtis fiercely taking point for this franchise follow-up. One year after Scream Factory’s big box set, H20 gets its first solo 4K release in time for its 25th Anniversary. While the transfer is still excellent and the audio is solid, fancy snazzy SteelBook packaging isn’t quite enough to make up for the egregious lack of bonus features, new, legacy, or otherwise. To that end, for those who didn’t pick up the big three-film 4K set last year, you can now add the film to your 4K collection at a lower price point, but the better release really is found in that three-film set. For those that already have this on 4K, this one is only a novelty for the SteelBook - Worth A Look" ★★★★½ UltraHD.HighDefDigest.com
"The final image of the axe-wielding, grim-faced Curtis would have made a marvellous conclusion to the series. Fortunately, the film avoids the self-conscious "post-modern" tropes of the Scream series, though there is a crudely shoe-horned clip from Scream 2 and a knowing cameo from Curtis’ mom Janet Leigh that provides an excuse for a bunch of Psycho jokes." ★★★★ HorrorScreamsVideoVault.co.uk
