Jack-O's Review: I love the opening scene on Halloween night with trick or treaters, decorations, fall leaves and Dracula Dad gets axed in the back by "The Skulleton" killer. The scene after the credits and the brothers arguing, Shawnee Smith's character reveals who the killer is but the detectives just don't believe her until the end. The kills are tame nothing memorable. I lost interest by the end/fell asleep and had to rewind to watch the ending again. I'll give it an extra star for the Halloween opening. ★★ @trickhorrortreater

"This is an uneven film that starts with so much promise, feeling like Halloween, which is obvious, as well as Scream. The open is so good and the idea of processing the trauma of this family remains a great idea. However, this starts to crawl just when you want it to fly. I really wanted to love this and ended up barely enjoying it, which is a shame, because Smith is really good — even if she looks younger than her sons — and the killer looks intimidating if a bit too much Spirit Store." "While many will undoubtedly think of Saw when they see Shawnee Smith, I also think of The Blob (1988) and the Carl Reiner 1987 comedy Summer School... I love that she’s starring in Bloodline Killer because she can carry a horror movie. Also, she has the vibe of a woman who does not back down. In that sense, she reminded me of Laurie Strode from Halloween. Though less traumatized... Also, we even get a meta layer in the movie about a Skulleton movie coming out. This gave Bloodline Killer a certain Scream air. In that hugely successful horror franchise, movies called Stab are a part of the world-building for Sydney Prescott... Anthony Gaudioso & James Gaudioso (aka The Gaudioso Twins) wrote the screenplay. While I like how they’re mixing a lot of iconic horror franchise lore, while still creating something that feels fresh, it could’ve been a tighter story. I mean, virtually everything with the police officers is irrelevant. Sure, it means Tyrese Gibson is in the movie and he has name and face recognition. Still, he could’ve been an old friend or a neighbor instead of a cop. Again!... And, despite it being too long, you should check it out. Especially if my suspicions hold true and a sequel is in the making." ★★ HeavenOfHorror.com
"At an hour and forty-five minutes, Bloodline Killer is way longer than it needs to be, given its lack of surprises, scares or almost any entertainment value of any kind. Even the one potentially exciting scene, the final confrontation with Lee, is so dark that it’s like watching shadows beating on each other. I was hoping Bloodline Killer would be a solid entry into the slasher genre, but unfortunately it makes just about every mistake imaginable, and keeps on making it for much longer than it should. The only good thing I can say is there’s no worry of this becoming a franchise, after this any plans for a sequel should be DOA." ★ Nerdly.co.uk
"Poorly written, poorly acted and the ending is just plain stupid. The "main villain" is a bullet proof copy of Jason Voorhees from Wish and everybody else is a one dimensional caricature made out of cardboard. People seem to trip and faint at the slightest gust of wind so that the plot can happen, if there was an actual plot. They kept flashbacking to something that didn't connect to anything else except on the writer's head. What was the deal with the flashbacks and why were they relevant, we'll never know. The script was probably written in 10 minutes on a napkin by someone on their way to their work. Would not recommend to anyone." 1/10 mitzthemage at IMDb.com
"Shawnee Smith delivers a valiant effort as Moira Cole, the traumatized protagonist. However, the script fails to give her character the depth she deserves. The central conflict between Moira and her deranged cousin feels underdeveloped, leaving us with a shallow understanding of their motivations. The film leans heavily on clichés, borrowing plot points from better-known slashers like Halloween. This lack of originality makes the story predictable and dull. The attempts to heighten tension fall flat, resulting in more eye rolls than screams. The biggest missed opportunity lies in the killer themself. The aforementioned skull mask is generic and forgettable, failing to evoke any real fear. This extends to the kills themselves, which lack creativity and brutality. For a slasher film, this is a cardinal sin. "Bloodline Killer" might hold some appeal for die-hard fans of the genre looking for a familiar formula. But for anyone seeking a truly chilling experience, this film is a forgettable entry in the overpopulated slasher subgenre." 2/10 nERDbOX_Dave at IMDb.com
"I was here for Shawnee Smith, and she was in it. Mission accomplished. The film itself plays like a discount horror-thriller that wants to be clever about trauma and legacy, but mostly just plods along. There are moments where it threatens to get interesting, with some decent atmosphere and a few nice setups, but it never really delivers. Still, I’m always happy to watch Shawnee Smith on screen. She makes even the dullest scenes more watchable just by being there. Watch it if you’re a completionist or loyal to Shawnee like I am." ★★½ Jimmu at LetterBoxd.com
"While sporting some talented stars and exhibiting flashes of promise in concept, Bloodline Killer ultimately fails to deliver credible thrills or a compelling serial killer saga. Plagued by sluggish pacing, thin characters, and a masked madman who inspires no terror, this dysfunctional family drama/slasher hybrid largely disappoints." 4/10 Gazettely.com
